Who you'll see

Meet your midwives.

Two midwives, one shared practice. Get to know the women behind Kindred — and the training that lets us care for you at every stage.

Adrienne & Jenna

A duo built on trust, training, and time.

We're two friends turned colleagues who decided the women in our community deserved better than rushed appointments. Together we built Kindred so every visit is unhurried, every relationship is real, and no one ever has to wonder who's caring for them.

Adrienne Burke Miller

WHNP · CNM

Adrienne Burke Miller

Adrienne grew up in Georgia and small-town Montana before earning her BSN at Minot State University and moving to Arizona for the sunshine. She spent sixteen years as a hospital labor and delivery nurse — working alongside midwives and falling in love with caring for moms and babies.

After her own pregnancies reshaped what she wanted from a provider, she earned a Master of Science in Nurse Midwifery from Frontier Nursing University (2018) and a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner degree (2019). Today she offers full-scope care across pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and gynecology — grounded in evidence-based practice and a belief that clients deserve to be the ones making the call about their own bodies.

Why midwifery
"Having my own babies showed me what compassionate care actually feels like. Now I get to give that back."
Outside the clinic
Home is busy in the best way — husband, two sons in club baseball, two cats, two French Bulldogs, and one mini potbelly pig. Adrienne loves family time at the lake and hunting down a great new restaurant.
Jenna Sander

APRN · CNM

Jenna Sander

Jenna grew up in rural western Kansas and came to midwifery through her own birth story. After a traumatic first delivery shaped by unnecessary interventions and a provider who didn't slow down to explain anything, she sought out midwifery care for her second son — and had a safe, empowering birth-center birth. That experience set the direction for the rest of her career.

She earned her BSN at Fort Hays State University and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Kansas Medical Center. She's been practicing midwifery since 2013 and in Arizona since 2014, caring for families in birth centers, rural Kansas, and East Valley hospitals — always with a focus on physiologic birth and respectful, evidence-based care. (When her third son was born, Adrienne was one of the friends and colleagues caring for her.)

Why midwifery
"Every appointment is a chance to hand someone real information and the dignity of making their own choices."
Outside the clinic
Home is full — husband, three sons, and a handful of dogs. Jenna unwinds with cooking and baking, skiing, jogging, a good book, and the endless lineup of her boys' games and meets.

The midwife landscape

Types of midwives in Arizona.

Our credential

CNM

Certified Nurse Midwife

An advanced-practice registered nurse with a graduate degree in midwifery, certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB). Holds prescribing authority and is trained in full-scope women's health — not just pregnancy. Practices in hospitals, birth centers, and homes.

Out-of-hospital specialist

CPM

Certified Professional Midwife

Credentialed by the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM), specializing in out-of-hospital birth — home or birth center. Does not hold a nursing degree or prescribing authority. Focused specifically on pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care.

State-licensed

LM

Licensed Midwife

Licensed directly by the State of Arizona to practice midwifery, typically for out-of-hospital births. Often holds a CPM credential as a foundation. Arizona's licensing pathway for midwives who focus on home and birth center care.

Both Adrienne and Jenna are CNMs — which is why we can offer the full scope of women's wellness care alongside pregnancy and birth.
